Welcome to KiLLerCloWn's MameWorld Save States Page Although ethically and morally questionable, MAME save states are now a reality and I'm sure there are more important ethical and moral concerns in this world to debate. So use them or ignore them, but here they are for those who enjoy them :) To use copy and paste the file into your "state" folder within MAME, fire up the game in question and press F7. You can then choose to load a game from the save state file and start playing from the moment where it was saved at. (name of the .sta file refers to the name of the .zip rom) To create a save state file yourself, fire up a game, play it, then press Shift+F7 and when prompted press a number to save to the chose slot.
