Complete Solution - by Withnail |
Below is the complete solution. I've explained how to do some of the less obvious rooms, the others are pretty easy (jumping over snakes etc). There are two to watch out for, however, which are quite nasty. They are identical but one is pitch black (use your torch to map out the room), and the other makes you invisible (have your wits and ears about you on this one). There is another where you whip two pots, the nearest first, onto lifts to get the treasure.
Remember if you're running low on energy jump at the black bird in the corridors when it swoops down to replenish. Also that all the clues you need to complete the game are there in the scrolls.
There are three rooms on level one. In the first, jump in front of the eye on the right-hand wall to move the statues. Get the whip from the second room, and walk under the beetle in the third to exit to the second level.
There are three rooms on level two. The first has a mummy that leaves its coffin every time you go near - this room cannot be completed until later. In the next room you will find a scroll that reads, "With your whip a note shall chime and you will find a light to shine." The third room is the exit to level three; whip the stout statue blocking the exit from the left to move it.
On the third level there are only two rooms. Collect the Idol from the first and exit to level four via the other using the Idol to move the big statue.
There are four rooms on level four. The first two have scrolls. In the first room collect the coins from the bird and drop each in turn into the pot on the right of the screen. This will cause the sun to rise until the scroll is revealed. It says, "To free the mummy of its curse you must find the Knot of Isis first". The scroll in the second room reads, "A room of pools ye shalt get past when each in order stand thee hast". The third room cannot be completed until later and has four ghosts that will go for you should you try and get to the coffin. Exit via the last room, jumping up and down in front of the eye on the left-most wall; each jump moves the boulder a fraction.
On the fifth level there are three rooms. In the first you will find the torch. To get it whip the gongs in a specific order which I think is: Green, Grey, Cyan, Yellow, White. If that's wrong make sure white is always last. Get the torch from the chest and go to the second room. In here you'll find a scroll that reads, "Move the pots and ye shalt find the statue with the clue behind". The last room is the exit to level six. Walk on the pools in the following order to proceed: White, Yellow, Red, White, Yellow.
There are four rooms on level six. Two hold scrolls which read, "There's a room thou canst see until all scrolls are with thee" and "The cobra guards the way ahead but it doth fear a book that's dead". The remaining room holds the Knot of Isis. Once you have this return to level two and go to the unfinished mummy room. The mummy will have gone. Go to it's coffin and collect the Bowl of Fruit. Once you have this go to unfinished ghost room on level four. Walk towards the coffin and two ghosts will lift you up to get the Book of Dead. You can now get past the cobra at the end of level six.
There are three rooms on level seven. In the first is the following scroll, "Osiris will not let you past until the scroll of Thoth hast". In the second room is the opportunity to get all your energy back - if you can be bothered. The third room appears after you've been to the first room. This is the last room. You need to walk the boulder to the edge of the walkway then whip it onto the boat that sails back and forth. If you time it right the scroll of Thoth will float up into your possession.
Once you have that go all the way back to level one. A door will have appeared. Go through and you'll be back at the beginning, except the statue of Osiris will have gone. Walk through the black hole and you'll be presented with one of the wankiest completions ever devised.
