Here's another update. The total is now 1076 pics ! |
| 4th October'99
Oops. Looks like I missed a few pics in my zip. Thanks to Dave Elton for pointing out that the online zips only contained 992 cabinets. Get the update (8.zip). You also need to delete some files to make your set correct, since Mamedev renamed some romsets too. So, just get the update, unpack it to your cabinets dir, then delete these files.... 3WONDERJ.PNG, HBARRELU.PNG, INVDELUX.PNG, ROBOCOPP.PNG & IROBOT.PNG The last one was removed from Mame because it doesn't work. You can either delete it, or not delete it. Don't worry, when it comes back to Mame, I'll have it in an update, or you can keep it and have 1007 cabinets in your collection ! |

Here's a MASSIVE update, almost 8 meg of new cabs added. There's 168 new pics. Some have been replaced, and some renamed to a clone because a better "main pic" has been found so the total is now 1006 cabs ! Don't think, just download it :-) While you're downloading it, take a look at this new emulation joystick. Its called Stick-It. Cheaper than a Hotrod, has PS2 & USB support (good for use with the new iMacs etc), works with ALL emulators *AND* it's fully programmable too ! Check it out. |
| 15th August'99 The unknown cabinets have been identified. Seems the Capcom cabinets are both the same game : Warriors of Fate and the NeoGeo 50 cab is KOF94. Sounds good to me. Thanks to Luís Sá, Sean Naberhuis and Amstrong for the help. |

Here's the first of many update files. 86 pics this time including 10 that have been replaced for a total of 850 pics. Just unzip it to your cabinets directory and overwrite the 10 extra files or extract the files and add them to your cabinets.zip for use with MAME32. Remember, if you already have the first 5 parts, just get the update file dated 14th August 1999. If you don't have any cabinet pics yet, you'll need to download all 6 parts. OK, now I need your help. Download these 3 unknown cabinet pics (Fairly new games) and if you **know** which games they are, please Email me so I can add them to the next update. I'll post the answers and the name of the keen-eyed cabinet identifier here (if you want) if I get a positive I.D. I think there's 2 Capcom games and 1 NeoGeo game and I'm fairly certain I've seen the games in MAME, but I'm not sure which ones they are as the NeoGeo and Capcom fighting games all look the same and the cabinets are typical, modern-day generic cabinets with no marquees, although I must say they look *VERY* nice. I have left the pics fairly large and in .jpg format for easy viewing and so the file sizes are relatively small. Only mail me if you know 100% and also try to double verify it with screen shots from the game in MAME. Thanks. |

I've been very busy over the last 2 months but I managed to get together just a *few* more cabs for you guys. There's ALOT of gaps in the collection and since some of the cabinets are very rare, I've decided to add marquees and sideart to the collection until I get a cabinet pic (if ever). As far as Neogeo is concerned, the cabinets are mostly the same, so I'm slowly adding pics of the actual carts & mini-marquees to the archive as many of the games did not come in a dedicated cabinet. Also, the "one big file" experiment isn't really working for me cos I'm stuck on a 56k dialup connection. Downloading is no problem since it can be resumed, but it's a real pain to upload 25meg and get cut-off half way through, so I'm splitting up the archive into 5 parts. Just download each part then extract to an empty directory, then re-zip it all up into a file called CABINETS.ZIP, then move it to the MAME/CABINETS directory. A side-effect of me splitting up the archive is that you'll all have to re-download the entire archive again. Sorry 'bout that. Hopefully I'll just post updates next time. I have put up a credits section to list the names of people who have helped me with cabinet pics and links to cabinet pics. I seem to have forgotten a few names, so if you sent me any cabinet pics and you don't see your name listed, just email me and remind me what you sent and I'll add your name to the credits list. Thanks. A VERY special **thanks** to Peter Kos for writing me a program to audit my cabinet pics. The total is now at 774 cabinets ! Enjoy the update. |

I finally completed the "special package" I mentioned a while back. Cabinets for games supported by Raine, Retrocade and System16 !! There's *ALOT* missing, but it's still a nice addition to my online archive. I thought I'd put it online as many are still not emulated by MAME, otherwise you would miss out on seeing these cabinets. More surprises to come soon ..... |
| 3rd Jun'99 Thanks for the help with locating the extra cabinets guys. I really appreciate it. Anyone want to write me a nice program to verify the cabinet pics filenames like MAMEover does. Unfortunately MAMEover won't work for me, just gives a stupid active X error which even the author can't fix ! Oh well.... anyways, I'm working on the special *package*. Should have it completed next week sometime. |

Long time no see.....I've been busy chasing and sorting out *heaps* of pics, so here ya go. 580 cabinet pics in total, though it looks like Mamedev re-named a few because i have about 9 not showing up. My missing.txt is auto-generated by a special program and it's telling me I'm missing 829 pics, but 829 + 580 = 1409, and MAME 0.35B13 supports 1400 games, therefore 9 are named wrongly. Can someone tell me which ones are wrong in the archive so I can fix it? I've had a few requests for a single file so I've decided to kill 2 cabinets with one power-spike :-) Now that MAME32 is natively supporting cabinet pics, I've decided to convert all the pics to .PNG format (Mame32dev - what happened to .JPG support??). Leave the file zipped and put it in the CABINETS directory and MAME32 will allow you to view each one as you scroll through the games list. MAME32 is very smart too. If there's no pic for a clone, it uses the parent pic. Great ! Just remember to click on the pic to toggle "cabinet pics view". If you don't like .PNG's, just convert them with a good graphics converter. My favorite one is PICAVIEW32, which you can get from http://www.acdsystems.com. PICAVIEW32 is a nice right-click pic viewer. Just select a pic and right-click it! (see the thumb, nice isn't it). To convert pics with PICAVIEW32, just select all .PNG files, right-click one of them and select "batch-convert" from the popup menu, then select BMP or JPG (or another format). Simple and F-A-S-T ! If you decide to use PICAVIEW32, get this too ;-) btw, I'm on a 56k modem and my S.O.B. ISP cut me off while I was uploading (at 2k/sec) so I'm re-uploading the whole thing again now! Can someone tell me if there's a way to resume uploading? You guys with cable/T1's really PISS ME OFF >:-| If all you guys (and girls) are good for a few days (I'm sure you will be.....), I'll have something *really* special for you next week ;-) |
| 25th Mar'99 Another BIG update of cabinet pics. Currently 380 supported games with cabinet pics. The only zip not updated is u.zip |
| 9th Mar'99 Massive cabinet pics update ! Currently 302 supported games with cabinet pics. I removed all duplicates, so unless there's a clone of the same game, you won't find multiple pics or unsupported pics of games that are not in MAME. New site look. New layout. Download section re-done. I split all the pics up to make it easier to update the archive and quicker to download updates for people on slow/bad connections or those that don't want every pic. |

Duglis' old site is no longer being updated. Duglis has handed the entire site over to me, but he will still make occasional contributions. I (The Guru) will now be looking after all updates. This is now the new location for Arcade Art. The site will now be known as "The Arcade Art Museum". This site is going through a MAJOR overhaul and will have all new graphics very soon, but until then you can download everything from the links at the bottom of the page. |
