Yeah, it flopped. Yeah, the controllers sucked. Yeah, it was sucked up into the Great Video Game Crash of 1984. But, I had one, and I liked it. I even used it as a model for an elementary school class project. At the time, it was state-of-the-art, and arcade conversions like Defender and Pac-Man felt oh so nice to play at home (especially compared to the 2600 versions). However, times have changed, and practically every game worth getting for this system has been done better elsewhere.
Still, there are a couple reasons to keep this around, mostly updated versions of some key Activision games.
