NOTE:
  • When this set was added to MAME, it started using the Japanese clone's gfx ROMs, assuming they are were the same in both sets. The gfx ROMs for the world version weren't dumped and most likely were different, regardless of Capcom's track record. Check the dump notes in Guru's Dynasty Wars dump that hasn't yet been added. Glitches happen currently, for example: There's a bit of graphical garbage at the final score tally (should be "" then nothing, since there is no Level 9) if you've reached Level 8. Score is displayed properly at the end of any previous level where you happen to get to Level 8 (see snapshot). dynwar067gre, big_lenny_c / Smitdogg the roms being used by that version have been dumped from the correct board now. If the glitches are still present it's either a case of 'lazy Capcom English translation' or general CPS1 weirdness. Haze
  • The content of the smaller roms in this set is 99% identical, just japanese program roms and an alt board layout to the parent dynwar set.

This is a 1 or 2-player game where you play one of 4 Chinese heroes on horseback and try to kill hordes of enemies. This game always scrolls to the right.


The 1st button will make you face left and swing your weapon, the 2nd button will make you face right and swing your weapon, while the 3rd button will let you use magic. You can also add coins any time to increase your vitality.

The background story and all characters are based on factual history : the Period of Three Kingdoms after the 'Hen' Dynasty in China. Character designs were based on a popular Japanese comic called 'Destruction of Heaven and Earth'.


This game is known in Japan as "Tenchi wo Kurau".


The Tenchi wo Kurau series is based on the Chinese tale best known as Romance of the Three Kingdoms.


Pony Canyon / Scitron released a limited-edition soundtrack album for this game (Strider Hiryu : G.S.M. Capcom 2 - D25B1001) on 21/05/1989.
