Bugs:
  • In act 6, boss 3, the blonde enemies may have bad hair color (blue edges). That is not a bug but how the enemies actually appear. I have enclosed a screen shot from Combatribes running on my Supergun. I paused the game so I could take a picture by turning the Service switch on. Kevin Eshbach/TriggerFin (ID 01126)
WIP:
  • 0.125u7: Finish the work on ddragon3 [Sonikos]: Mapped the correct dip "SW1-8", before it was incorrect. Added "FBI Logo" dips in Combatribes. Fixed the dips condition's implementation to avoid the MAME crash in Combatribes. Changed description of clone 'The Combatribes (Italian bootleg)' to 'The Combatribes (bootleg Set 2)'.
  • 0.125u6: Sonikos added clone The Combatribes (Italian bootleg). Fixed the mess dips location in 'The Combatribes'. Added the missing dips (now are 8x2). Fixed the "Stage Clear Energy" dips. Adjusted the frame rate from 60Hz to around 57Hz as reported on mametester ID 00417. Adjusted OKI frequency to 1MHz (according to recording on mametester ID 00181). Adjusted the volume (according to recording on mametester ID 00181 and 01441). Added dipswitches 'Service Mode', 'Stage Clear Energy', 'More Stage Clear Energy' and 4x 'Unused'.
  • 0.123u2: Kevin Eshbach added DIP locations to Combatribes.
  • 0.113: Kevin Eshbach added clone The Combatribes (US) - Set 1? and added save state support. Fixed rom names and added new sound1 roms and prom ($0).
  • 0.109u1: Changed visible area to 320x240.
  • 0.102u5: Mamesick fixed 'Stage Clear Energy' dipswitch.
  • 0.100u4: Mamesick merged MACHINE_DRIVER (ctribe) with (ddragon3).
  • 0.97u4: Mamesick adjusted volume balance in The Combatribes.
  • 0.97u2: Pierpaolo Prazzoli added priorities and fixing 3rd level in The Combatribes.
  • 0.77u2: Fixed dipswitches.
  • 26th December 1999: Zsolt Vasvari fixed Combatribes graphics bugs and Bryan McPhail fixed its input ports.
  • 20th November 1999: Phil Stroffolino fixed the input ports in Double Dragon 3 and Combatribes.
  • 0.36b10: Added The Combatribes (US) (Technos 1990) and clone (bootleg). Issues: Combatribes has sprite lag but it seems to be caused by poor programming and I think the original does the same.
  • 15th November 1999: Bryan McPhail added Combatribes to the Double Dragon 3 driver.

history The Combatribes (c) 1990 Technos.

Three player simultaneous melee battle in which larger-than-life fighters battle against rival gang members. As well as being able to pick up objects such as motorcycles etc. and throw them at the enemies, players also have a number of interesting fighting moves that can be unleashed upon their opponents. These include picking up unconscious enemies and hitting OTHER enemies with them, as well as banging two enemies' heads together and smashing recumbent enemies' heads into the ground to finish them off.
