Lemme guess, you have kids and don't want them playing the naughty games right? Well here's a new (ahem :) tool that you can use to delete those evil roms! It's called MARRT and is basically a MS-DOS Batch File for use with Windows 2000/Windows XP which uses the mature.ini from TriggerFin's Catlist to remove all of the Adult Game ROMs from your MAME Roms Directory. Its author, Jonathon Leung, welcomes any feedback and/or suggestions you may have. ~Twisty~

AdvanceCD is a bootable LiveCD/DVD of a minimal Linux system containing the AdvanceMAME emulator.
You can boot this CD in any PC and play the contained games
without any installation. The default distribution contains
the arcade games Gridlee, Poly Play and Robby Roto and it
uses only 20 Mbyte leaving the whole CD for your roms.
Changes in v2.2.0 include:
- New look.
- Added support for the most recent Radeon and GeForce boards.
- Auto eject of the CD before the shutdown.
- Added support for custom configuration of the Advance programs.
- Enabled the configuration interface in the emulators. It's
required to load software in MESS.
- Removed the use of doublescan modes. This is a workaround to solve
some problems on buggy drivers like Radeon.
- Upgraded AdvanceMAME 0.79.2, AdvanceMESS 0.79.0.1 and
AdvanceMENU 2.3.2.
- Upgraded ALSA library 1.0.3b.
- Upgraded BusyBox 1.00-pre4.

MAGE is the Multiple Arcade Gambling Emulator maintained by El Condor, and is a MAME derivative. He has a new version up for grabs, and states the following...
"No need to update to MAME 0.80u1, nothing MAGE related changed.
Now using the MAME32FX UI, and associated improvements - makes everything easier for people, except me (15 compiles to get the right shade of green, then I realised it was an ini change, doh!)
Updated some drivers, such as pontoon.c (I think that lvcards is not a gambling games, there seems to be no payout code).
Also, thanks to the Fruit Machine Emulation developers of Britain and the Netherlands, there is preliminary support for Coinmaster (DialTone), Bellfruit System 85 and Scorpions 1 and 2 (Re-Animator).
From the Bellfruit work, has come an interesting new simulation core, this means that those new preliminary drivers don't sit too well with other MAME builds (not that they do anything yet, MAMEPlus etc shouldn't bother with them, as they are still error-strewn)."
UPDATE: Apparently .10u1 is no longer available for now, with the following reason given...
"The source is being rejected on all sites, as a zip or exe, so I'm not bothering until Monday."
By not having to gamble away your real noney, this could make you very rich! ;-) ~Twisty~

You can now proceed to download Triggerfin's latest Catlist, which adds extra categories for several popular frontends, as well as MAME32 :-) ~Twisty~
If you don't already know (and that would be miraculous due to Pi's mad spamming ;), a wonderful utility by LogiqX called Rombuild Special has been crafted in order for you to easily update your NeoGeo stash. It takes a good MAME 0.79 set and generates needed roms for 26 changed Neo-Geo dumps (applicable for MAME .79u4 and up). ~Twisty~
MAME32 Plus!,
a popular derivative build which includes several tweaks and enhancements,
now stands at .79u4. Let's examine the latest plusses...
- updated to MAME 0.79u4
- added luctoday, stablkjk, lvcards, lvpoker and roulette [MAGE]
- updated to Scale2x / Scale3x effect v2.0
- draw list view items faster as before
- fixed dib draw in 16 bit depth
- ASM 68020 core is enabled when -m68k_c_core option is disabled. Some instructions for 020 are fixed.

Peter from 3D-Arcade has
announced a new version of his hi-tech and futuristic frontend! Changes are as follows...
- The preloadcab property in general cfg can now be set to false. When set to false the fe will no longer preload all models on boot but only when needed.
- Texture overlay menus can now be put on fpsxtramodels. This way jukeboxes, arcgates etc. don't have to be part of a gamelist anymore.
- Support for positional sound effects. For a demonstration see Deniros new 7thHeaven arcade and hear the zeppelin flying over ;-)
- Gencab entries can now use all search operators the fe supports.
- Option to set the camera to be the parent of the environment model in cylarcade. Watchout for a demonstration of this featuring Q-bert soon...
- Added some more dialogs to the internal cfg utility and changed all of them to be compatible with a possible mac port.
Deniros 7th Heaven arcade:
The arcade is set in a steel-frame dome with an animated sky in the background. Magic marquee signs hang in the dome above the games they get their marquees from. Included is also a new batch of magic cabinets, that will instantly fill any arcade with a diversity of models. And then there is that Zeppelin...

After 2 internal "u" releases, .79u4 is finally here...courtesy
of Haze and MameDev.
As usual, binaries should soon be available at Emu-France.com.
Thanks Brian ~Twisty~

There's a new MAME derivative build on the loose called MAGE! Maintained by El Condor, it basically supports several gambling based games which are not included in MAME due to policy issues. The current version is .7902, but it's being actively devoloped right now and new releases should be coming out quite regularly. ~Twisty~
DatUtil was created to aid in the
creation of dat files for Rom Managers such as ClrMamePro and RomCenter
(Roman Scherzer / Eric Bole-Feysot). It can convert between formats, compare
dats, extract individual games (and optionally their clones), cleanse dats
etc.
This latest release by dat meister LogiqX now includes disk support.
Thanks Ad_Enuff ~Twisty~

John IV just released a couple new cabinet packs over at the MAME32 Quality Assurance site...quality assured! Thanks Toe-Knee! -KC-
There might have been a short downtimeperiod while we were tinkering with the new design, but Twisty spent some time getting it all running smoothly again.
We also tinkered with the little Pac-Man gifs you see on the left of every newspost title! We tried a php randomiser, wich randomised the exact same image for every post, and a java script randomiser (bah, java!) which made the cut off after the last news post in IE6 (bah, IE6!)...if anyone knows a simple php script which could randomise these out of a folder for us, that would be very cool :) -KC-
Nevermind, I already fixed it =_= ~Twisty~
An EasyMAME update a day keeps the command line away :) Thanks Dalthon! -KC-
M1 MAME and samples stuff...and all absolute classics. Cool progress at the WIP Emporium! -KC-
Steadily Norbert is working away at his second MAME driver, Mad Alien! You can read about the game and view his progress on his homepage...and maybe help him out with a colour issue or 2! -KC-
Right, some comments to reactions about the new design:
- We will continue to display several days news as always. I just couldn't be bothered to paste in all of last weeks news. It'll look as busy as ever within a couple of days time...patience :)
- The news archive will continue to exist, the link it still on the left, I'll also place one at the bottom of the last news post.
- Many people are actually asking for the article I wrote on the basics of a pro design, who would have thought :) So you can read it on my business page, I put it online free to view for everyone. (Bottom left with all the other publications)
Remember this is still beta and we welcome all comments and suggestions. Nothing of what made MW good before will go amiss now, on the contrary, things are supposed to get better :)
-KC-
As you can see the first beta of the new design is here. Page size should
be less than 1/6th now, a third cut out by finally getting rid of the dinosaur
tables and another third by eliminating all the evil gifs that come with
them. It all validates and should be a lot more accessible and usable.
It's been a long time coming. If anyone is interested, I'm just about to
publish an article on what are the fundamentals of a professional web design,
most of which are obeyed here...Let
me know I'll be happy to send it over :) -KC-
...and Roman is tired...:
fixed: parser fails for some diskname
misc: minor windowclientedge changes
misc: don't list sha1/md5 if it's not given (scanner & export)
misc: dir2dat uses the stored zip crc32 when not adding sha1/md5 instead
of recalculating it
No wonder, it's a merciless job, we're at version 3.22c :) -KC-
First Disney now SEGA, hostile takeovers in the entertainment industry wherever you look. Thanks for posting this link Ad_Enuff, and SEGA's reaction here
...jewel case art has been finished by Ad_Enuff and is available on his bursting FTP. -KC-
