First update is here. Some minor fixes and the addition of a new feature:
Auto rename MAME snapshots, which rename snaps from MAME new name format to the front-end
format automatically after exiting MAME :)
Easter time! Have your bunnies ready. 3, 2, 1... GO!
A month has passed by since last release. I've been quite busy working on v5.4!
There are some major new features this time:
- Thumbnails, large icons, small icons, tiles view modes. All you could ever ask from EL again! :)
- Classic view and layouts view for images (for those like me who like to use only 1 screenshot)
- Support for MAMEUI icons (finally)
It doesn't seem much but there were tons of changes under the hood, trust me...
EL went thru a surgery and got a face lift. Almost all icons were changed and all
screens were remade to avoid waste of space (mostly window borders).
That's enough talking... oh, you can upgrade v5.3.1, and if you want to clear the left-overs on an
update (icons, images), you can safely delete the entire "resources" folder and add the one from
the new build. MAME on! :)
Finally, after a lot of testing, the multi-screenshots feature is running
great! Yes, now you can view up to 3 screenshots at the same time. There are several layouts to
choose from. There are some default layout profiles I set but if you want to select your own image types
(and you will...) then use the editor by accessing the "Customize" menu item in the new layout tool bar
button (images tool bar). I hope you like it...
The filename / resolution label is disabled when multi-screenshots view, but there are hints on the
images with a description of each type being used.
Another cool fix is the new RichEditURL component. Clickable weblinks are now
integrated with game documents texts. No more that ugly hacked label :)
As of this build, Emu Loader will no longer support MAME's snap filename formats
"\snap\gamename\0000.png". Only the old "\snap\fullgamename0000.png".
Not to worry as I rewrote the "Convert Snapshots" feature so you can rename all your screenshots with no
complications. No files are deleted on the process, so use it without f.e.a.r. :)
Good news for some. I re-added the "screen resolution" column back into the list so, you
must re-create all your games lists. I advise you to delete all .el files from the "\arcade\" folder
before using this build. Only the 1st screen is used and no refresh rate info.
No need for a clean install, but you get access violation errors, try a clean start.
Well, I think I've said everything. Have fun!
Hi MAME fans. Another update with several fixes and optimizations! :-))
The format of the games list files (\arcade\*.el) have changed so, you will need to re-create all
your games lists. No need for clean install though.
Scan games function now bypass all ROMs/CHDs marked as "no dump". MAME can run games without these
ROMs anyway.
The 10 seconds delay when running emulators is also gone. It turned out that EL was waiting 10
seconds before checking if the emulator was still running or not (I hope it's gone...). Random game
button is finally fixed (no more hidden games being selected).
Game entries in scan results files (.miss) were not being correctly deleted/re-added.
The new MAME snapshots name format is now only supported by the 1st 2 image types
(title snaps / game snaps). All the other formats only support "fullgamename0000.ext".
Important change for MAME: playback / record input files are not saved in a "gamename" sub-folder,
inside the "inp" folder you set in "mame.ini" so you can separate all your inp files by game name,
and not by filename...
Again, I removed a several memory variables from the source code that were not being used by no
functions. The status bar has changed. You'll only get 2 infos, "total visible games" and the new
"game name [parent name]" panel. The left panel status bar is also changed. You'll see the total
filters loaded and the total folders (sum of all filters).
A system is gone... PinMAME. I never understood the fun of watching the electronic panels of
pinball machines without being able to play the damn thing.
Some new settings for the Daphne emulators in preferences screen. They might be useful...
Lastly, I re-added the PCB image type.
Well, that's all for now. Happy New Year!
New update with some fixes. I guess some bugs got lost...
No update package this time, sorry.
Updates, updates, updates. This front-end is so full of bugs that even I am getting
scared...
More fixes and a editor for left panel filters (located in the new "Left Panel" main menu). You can
create new filters or edit an existing one. Starting from this build, merged sets will be supported
only for MAME. No more zipped images support. I'm sorry for this bug I want to add support for
multi-images viewing and dealing with zipped files is a pain in the ass...
Great news is the addition of a new emulator: "Another Arcade Emulator" (AAE). Vector
games never looked so good!!! Website: http://pages.suddenlink.net/aae/ :-))
No support for custom game settings since you can do that directly into the emulator. Make sure to download
the ClrMAMEPro .dat file for this emulator from Logiqx website.
More info in the changelog.
Have fun!
Huh, wait! I've said that already in the last update... lol
Hi MAME fans! The first release of 2008 bring some nice fixes for Windows Vista
(sorry still no Vista open/save dialogs... I'm working on it).
For those nostalgic days, I brought back the yellow/orange icons for MAME games.
Again, this front-end is starting to feel a little bloated with stuff we don't need. Too many icons
in the screen and features left from old EL builds.
Left panel is update with some cool stuff:
-> multiple filters selection so you can filter the list using several filters at once
-> hability to use the "have/miss" main filter with the left panel
-> create a custom filter for "Control Type" to use with the left panel (main menu "Left Panel")
Other great news is support for MARP - MAME Action Replay Page (http://marp.retrogames.com)
Game documents feature is getting somewhat complex hehe...
... update ...
I almost forgot, EL is updated to work with the new "SEGA Model 2 Emulator v0.6"
... end of update ...
Have fun!
HO HO HO!
Time for another release. Some things have been fixed and others added...
aren't you tired or hearing this ? LOL
Improvements to the left panel, of course. Audit feature is completely removed. Sorry folks but
I just could not update the audit to work with the new ROMs scanning mode. Front-end updated
for MAME v0.122.
New feature to replace the audit one: "Scan Results"... that's right. All bad
results are added to new files inside "\arcade\scan_results\" folder. Only games with missing
ROMs/CHD are in there. Games with a complete list of ROMs/CHD missing are not added to the list.
So, re-scan all your games lists to start using this feature.
You know what to do, head over to the changelog for more info and the download
section to get this puppy. :)
No need for a clean install!
Merry Christmas to all!
Finally after 6 months, a new version is out!
There are not many changes, just some bug fixes and some new additions, specially the new
left panel filters. It works like in MAME32 but you can have several sub-levels (see screenshots
page for an example).
A new system is also added: Mjolnir. Need I say more ? :)
On another note, my website is completely remade... as you can see.
Everything is done in PHP + CSS + Javascript and AJAX. I even added a very simple download
counter in the downloads page, just to see what are the most used links.
The only page that still need some work is the compile tutorial...
As you can see, EmuCon has its own section now, just navigate the website with
the left-side menu.
I have tested this new website on IE6, IE7, FireFox and Opera, but it works best under FireFox.
Read the change log for more info on this new release.
