Introduction

Dega is written by one of the most influential emulator authors Dave. If you haven't heard of Dave before he is the author of Final Burn and DGen.

Dega is a Sega Master System and Game Gear emulator. Apparently it has a 97% compatability rate and from what I've seen it is damned fast too.

I never had either of these consoles so I dont really have an opinion on the content of the games however they came from an era dominated by Nintendo and their NES back in the mid to late eighties.

I guess to all you retrogamers there will be alot of reminiscing going on and I hope you all enjoy yourselves.

Installing Dega

To install Dega you will need a copy of Winzip. All you have to do is to open the zipfile, press the extract button and type C:\Dega into to the path area of the window that opens.

There are two directories that need to be set up, one for roms and one for saved states. To do this open My Computer, then your C: drive and then the Dega directory. Right click somewhere in an empty space in the folder and select New, then folder from the menu. A new folder icon will appear and will be highlighted. Simply type Roms and press OK when your finished. For the saved states simply repeat the process but type State for the name of the new icon.

Your Dega folder should look something like this...

Installing Games

Because Dega is a console emulator there aren't many sites around holding roms for it. You could try a search engine like Google with the keywords Sega Master System Roms or GameGear Roms.

All you need to do to install roms is to put the zipped rom into the C:\Dega\Roms directory.
