Message Board Update

The sharper eyed amongst you will have noticed that we now have a PC hardware/Arcade Cab Help message board. You can use this for assistance with any PC hardware or MAME cab questions you may have. We'll do the best we can to help.

Whilst on the subject of boards, remember the EmuAdvice Help Board is set up for all newbies, and not so newbies, to ask anything about getting MAME and any other emulator to work. Feel free to point newbies towards it if you find them stuck for an answer on other boards.

Also don't forget we host the ArcadeOS, Emu Loader and MAME Compiling board and the official MAME Testers board for all your bug reports.

Last of all there's the Loony Bin, where off-topic is the general rule. Join us if you can take it :)

A full list of boards is here.

Welcome new sponsors

As you can see we have two new sponsors for August, we are now able to cover our hosting costs (donations also help) thanks to the companies who's ads you see above and to the right.

Please check out their sites, they have loads of stuff just for MAME fans. These are not just random companies, they have been picked because they offer something that you guys would most likely be interested in and offer quality goods. No porn or gambling ads here, just gaming/MAMEing related stuff.

Please visit them, so as they continue to advertise here, if we lose sponsors we will be unable to cover costs which threatens our very existence.

Forgot to mention what the two new sponsors offer:

Custom-Arcade will build you an extremely high quality cabinet to your own personal specification. Top of that range equipment definately. Edit: Link corrected, there are two similarly named companies, whoops!

Arcadeshopper offers cabinets, cabinet kits, also they buy and sell games and pinball machines.

GoMAME 1.0 Front-End

It seems like Greg Bryant has now put out a polished version of GoMAME - his new front-end. Here's what he mentions...

"Since the last posted beta, I've added support for multiple ROM directories, increased the speed of database ops nearly an order of magnitude, and added a few more features...some of which won't hit the documentation until version 1.1"

Go go go get it :-) ~Twisty~

PCBinfos .71u2

M.A.S.H.'s PCBinfos collection, recently updated to v0.71u2, now stands at 2410 files for Original / Testdriver / Upcoming games. It's purpose is to provide detalied PCB, Dumper, and Romset info in addition to release dates for arcade boards. ~Twisty~

Mameinfo.dat .71u2 (a)

M.A.S.H. has another Mameinfo.dat ready...

  • DIFF-Update
  • Newest Bugs (July 20)
  • Added more 'Recommended Games'
  • Corrected some Mameinfo entries
  • Added Romset (kb/files/zip) infos
  • Added more MAME driver source infos

  • TIPS:

  • Use the new art tab function in MAME32 ( View \ Show Pictures \ History ) to display the game infos in a full window, without the screenshot

  • Compile your MAME/MAME32 version with the MAMEinfo-Source for 070u1 and you can display more infos

  • NOTE: Instructions for adding this DIFF-Update to the last full release are available here ~Twisty~

    MameWah v0.954b

A new Mamewah is ready! It is an ArcadeOS inspired frontend for DOS / Windows command-line M.A.M.E. (NOT MAME32) under Windows 98/ME/2000/XP. MAMEWAH is designed to hide the Windows environment and also to be controlled purely by arcade controllers (joysticks and buttons). Here's what Minwah had to say about his latest release...

"This one has a good few bug-fixes, with a few nice improvements too. There are still a couple of bugs, and I still haven't done the readme, so it's still a beta." ~Twisty~

    Guru Update

Wow! Check out Guru's latest bounty of boards :D

And 2 thumbs up to Gyrovision for buying him some needed dumping equipment. He happens to be one of the most generous donators in the MAME community btw :-) ~Twisty~

    Norbert's Java Arcade

...has just received a couple of new additions: Star Trek and Tac/Scan, two of the early Sega vector classics.

Check out the already impressive Java Arcade which runs on Norbert's Java Arcade Emulator. Great Stuff! -KC-

    Disable Your Windows Key!

Do you MAME with your keyboard, but occassionally find yourself accidentally hitting that annoying Windows key? Wish you could disable it entirely? Well now it's possible via this handly little freeware program called LogoLess...

  • Tray based & Quiet (NO splash, or nags)
  • Small demand on system resources
  • Can set to auto-start with current user
  • Easy to use Installer/UnInstaller
  • Works with Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
  • FREE for all!

  • Problem solved :-) ~Twisty~

    History.dat .71a

A couple days ago, Fandemame announced a History.dat update - pay no attention to the mold lol...

  • Updated to Mame 0.70u2
  • More descriptions
  • More trivia
  • Some correction

  • Thanks SecretAgentMan :-) ~Twisty~

    Back!

Looks like we're back online again, more server issues I assume.
