AGEMAME 0.30

December 31st, 2005 by James

Although this is ready, transfers to the server are proving extremely slow for me.

I should definitely have the binary and AGEMAME source available soon, but the larger AGEMAME + MAME lite may take until next year ;)

EDIT:Actually, all files are now up, bar AGEMAME32, as that is an external contribution - I just couldn’t resist the joke.

Comments on the AGEMAME core

December 24th, 2005 by James

You may be aware that AGEMAME has a little system in place to try to visualise what’s going on inside the machine. What we do at present is draw the VFD readouts and the stepper motor positions onto the screen.

In the versions currently available, this is done by custom functions which treat the MAME UI font as a series of graphics tiles, which poses problems with regard to placement and allocation.
This was a very bad thing to do - particularly in terms of system stability.

In version 0.30, however, we’ve received a submission that goes some way to correcting this, by performing very similar functions using the UI functions themselves.

At present this prevents transparency effects, but should fix a few memory issues people have on a multi-session basis.

December 23rd, 2005 by James

These have been put together quickly, but should work.

Please note that there may be a limited response over the festive period.

Bug reports updated

December 20th, 2005 by James

It seems I’m managing a rate of once every 6 months, which to be honest is absolutely abysmal.

I apologise for that, and hope to keep these things updated more readily in future.

Patches for 102u4 released

December 16th, 2005 by James

Please note that the names of many of the ‘Jolly Card’ sets have changed with this release:

jollycdb is now jolycdcr
jollycdc is now jolycdit
jollycdd is now jolycdat
jollycde is now jolycdab

Although we normally recommend clearing out the cfg and nv folders with such releases, if you want to save any settings, renaming all relevant CFG, NV and ROM files will work in this instance.

(Please also note that this change occurs in MAME too, but my submission info isn’t in the readme for that patch)

Patch for 102u3 released

December 9th, 2005 by James

Please note that the Source patch table is now sorted so that the most recent file is at the bottom, in line with the MAMEDev.org version.

Site Updates

December 5th, 2005 by James

To make the archives easier to follow, they’re now all on one big page, called, surprisingly enough, Archives.

As an added bonus, I’ve been able to convert all the existing download pages to run on an automated system, hopefully putting an end to the broken links that crop up from time to time.

Patch for 102u2 out

December 2nd, 2005 by James

I’ve also corrected a problem where the Source Patch table had connected to the wrong patch - it should now be accessible to all, and not just me (which is why I didn’t see a problem.)

Website changes

November 25th, 2005 by James

You may have noticed a few minor alterations to the content here.

Essentially, the display theme used here has been updated to be more flexible, and so I’ve taken the opportunity to restructure some parts of the site to make them easier to read.

The real change will probably come with the next big WordPress update, but for now it should be easier to find what you want on the Main Menu.

PS. Those of you who have registered on the site should note that currently there are no extra features for doing so. Sorry for any confusion, and the registration system will be disabled soon.
